Yesterday when I paid for something at the cash register it occurred to me to write about how I keep all my dollar bills going in the same direction and facing the same way. For years I have kept my bills in my wallet grouped together in a certain way. First the ones, then the fives, then tens and twenties. All bills facing the same direction and none upside down. No it is not being OCD. Of course my daughter will argue with me on this.
When I stuff cash in my wallet I am too rushed and life is too hectic. It is my signal to slow down and take a deep breath. In short it is such a barometer about how my life is going. Keeping the bills neat and tidy makes me realize how much is in my wallet, am I taking care of my money and my finances and life just seems more in order and under control.
One other important point is that purchases are being made in cash…not my credit card or my debit card. It gives me a better sense of what I am spendng. Try this little system. It works.
Best Regards,
Joan
